GCU Homepage Basics Link
- Blue pull down menus - This menu takes you to the Category Browse Page for ALL CARDS or to a Main Category Page for a major subcategory, such as Announcements. The ALL CARDS page also has a list of artists at the bottom of the page sorted by the number of cards they have in their GCU store.
- Search Box - This is a search for GCU cards on the GCU site. It generates a list of search results that best match the search term that is entered. Each card online has a variety of information associated with it. These include:
- Card Title (i.e.: Oak Tree)
- Artist Name (i.e.: Mindy Rosso)
- Store Name (i.e.: Danville Tribute)
- Category terms (i.e.: Outdoors / Landscapes Collections Photography Places & Cities U.S. States California)
- Keywords entered by the artist when they created the card (i.e.: Danville, hills, oak tree, tree)
- Terms used in the inside verse (i.e.: I Miss You)
- Card Product Identification number (PID)
The search results are presented by default in order of POPULARITY. The results can subsequently be sorted by NEWEST.
Clearly if someone did a simple search for Moms Birthday the result would be a list of 1000s of cards; not very useful. But by adding additional words like Rose and daughter, and results list becomes much more manageable. Try it!
The search bar also includes a Search this Category selection to allow the search terms to apply only in the category shown at the time rather than for All Cards.
- Above the Fold - This area lists Promotional links such as for upcoming Holidays, and links to New Cards and Hot Cards.
- At the Fold - This area identifies the many unique card categories available at GCU. A good percentage of GCU cards are sold through these unique categories since cards addressing these topics can not be found in most stores. These include unique Holidays, unique invitation types, unique relationships, and various languages.
- Below the Fold - This area shows a very popular cycling of cards that have sold in recent days. Artists love to watch this as it gives them a good feel for what types of cards are selling currently. It is not uncommon to see Christmas cards start sell as early as August for instance. It is also fun to see the variety of design styles as well as where cards are being sent to. GCU cards are sent all over the world! As a new artist it is helpful to be aware of the types of cards buyers are buying. Due to the number of available cards at GCU, shoppers tend to be attracted to cards that are "exceptional." As you begin designing cards, take the time to study the most popular cards in each area and strive to make your card designs as attractive. There are usually several common elements in the most popular cards that allow them to stand out over the other cards. Figure out what those are and work to incorporate those aspects into each of your designs, including the Inner Verse!
- Page Footer - This area includes a set of links about GCU and associated organizations. Make sure you check each of them out
